At Prime Door, we understand the importance of blending form and function, especially when restoring spaces that hold deep meaning for the community. Our recent project with St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hubbard, Ohio, came after a devastating fire caused extensive smoke damage, requiring a full renovation of the building. We were honored to help restore this historic parish by providing custom doors and hardware to meet the unique demands of the project.
One of the greatest challenges in this project was the time-sensitive nature of the work. With St. Patrick’s Day approaching—a significant holiday for the church’s namesake—the parish aimed to reopen its doors in time for the celebration. Our team had to ensure that all doors and hardware were fabricated, delivered, and installed before the holiday.
We supplied laminated solid core wood doors throughout the parish, with two types of grain chosen for their beauty and warmth: plain sliced birch and bookmatched pear. These doors were custom-stained to match a color selected by the client, creating a rich, welcoming feel that perfectly complemented the newly installed stained glass windows. This attention to detail helped enhance the serene and sacred atmosphere inside the church.
In addition to the interior wood doors, we provided hollow metal doors and frames for the exterior and other areas exposed to heavy use or moisture. These galvanized hollow metal doors, insulated for energy efficiency, were paired with 16-gauge galvanized steel frames for maximum durability and longevity. They were installed with grade one hardware to ensure long-term security and reliability, critical for exterior entrances.
To ensure both security and functionality, we equipped St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with a variety of hardware solutions, each tailored to meet the specific needs of different areas within the parish.
Exit devices: We installed both fire exit and panic hardware, using grade one exit devices for maximum durability and life safety compliance. These devices ensure safe and efficient emergency egress, critical in a public facility.
Lever lock sets: We provided Hagar brand grade one lever lock sets, known for their reliability and strength. These locks served various functions throughout the building:
These solutions, combined with the exit devices, ensured that each door in the church met the necessary safety and functional requirements while maintaining a cohesive, high-quality design.
This project required a high level of customization. Some of the frames were custom-sized to fit the specific architecture of the building, while others needed precise machining to accommodate existing hinge locations from previous installations. We ensured that every door fit seamlessly into its frame, whether it was a new installation or a replacement.
Despite the tight timeline, we delivered on time, allowing St. Patrick’s Catholic Church to open its doors in time for their grand St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The project was a testament to our ability to manage complex projects under pressure while maintaining the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
At Prime Door, we take pride in offering customized solutions for every unique project. Stay tuned for more updates on our latest work!
