Project Spotlight: Rivergate High School – Tailoring Hollow Metal Doors, Frames, and Hardware for a Safer, Functional Campus

Rivergate High School, an alternative education facility dedicated to empowering its students through tailored learning, recently selected our team to provide an extensive array of hollow metal doors, frames, and specialized hardware solutions. This project came with unique challenges that called for versatile hardware configurations to suit a wide range of spaces and uses, ensuring both security and accessibility throughout the campus.

The Challenge: Customized Configurations for Varied Spaces

Working with a modern educational institution like Rivergate High School required adaptable solutions to support the needs of various spaces, each demanding distinct door and hardware configurations. From classrooms and administrative offices to specialized areas requiring unique lock functions, our team meticulously designed and delivered hardware solutions for:

Classrooms with Classroom Intruder locks, allowing for quick internal or external lock control to enhance student and teacher safety.
Storerooms with Storeroom locks, which automatically lock upon closing, safeguarding equipment and supplies.
Administrative Offices with Office locks, providing secure access for authorized staff.
Passage and Privacy locks for areas that required easy access or limited privacy, such as common areas and counseling rooms.

Exterior Security and Accessibility

Security on the exterior was paramount, with a focus on ensuring safe egress and entrance for students and staff. To meet these needs, we equipped the exterior doors with robust exit hardware that includes both:

Panic hardware for enhanced security and compliance with egress codes, including:
- Rim Exit Devices for single doors, ensuring secure and quick exit capabilities.
- Surface Vertical Rod Exit Devices for paired doors, paired with removable mullions for increased versatility and functionality.
Weather-resistant hardware components, including astragals for door edge protection, corrosion-resistant thresholds, and comprehensive weatherstripping, all designed to withstand the elements and prolong the lifespan of the doors.

Integrated Hardware Solutions for Aluminum Doors

In addition to the hollow metal doors, our team provided high-quality hardware for the facility’s aluminum doors, balancing aesthetics with durability and security. The aluminum door hardware included:

Keyed cylinders and cores to allow easy integration with the grand master key system.

Exit crossbars, closers, and trim pulls, all tailored for frequent use and ergonomic accessibility.

Advanced Keying and Security with Grand Master System

This system provides Rivergate High School with a secure and efficient way to manage access to each area of the building. The grand master system allows for tiered access, ensuring that only authorized personnel can enter certain spaces, while designated staff and security personnel maintain master access across the facility.
